Dear Viking Friends,

I know many of you are fans of Downton Abbey, the world-famous TV series filmed at my home, Highclere Castle. Through my long friendship with Karine, I am delighted to welcome Viking guests here for special tours and I hope to meet many more of you in the future!

While you may miss watching a new series of Downton Abbey, why don’t we all host Downton dinner parties in February to keep history, traditions and families together? Use the recipes from the “real Downton Abbey” in my latest book At Home at Highclere, available on amazon.com. You might also find this an appropriate Christmas present for friends and family—all who are encouraged to host their own gatherings, too!

I hope you might share your photos and videos of your dinner parties by emailing them to community@highclerecastle.co.uk so that Karine and I could choose one and invite four couples to dine and stay at Highclere with us. Explore some of the rooms with us and meet the real staff from Pat the Painter and Mike the Beekeeper to our trusted Les, Paul the Chef and Diana the Housekeeper, featured in the book and also in the videos below.

Should you want a closer and in-person look at Highclere Castle, we are so privileged to be able to share our home through our personal website, www.ladycarnarvon.com. There is even a special page called Dine with Downton to give you special ideas for your dinner party.

Sincerely,
Lady_C_Signature
The Countess of Carnarvon

P.S. While researching some interesting names in our Visitors’ Book from 1866, I discovered correspondence between the 4th Earl of Carnarvon and the first Prime Minister of Canada, Sir John A. Macdonald. Diary entries and letters show key elements of the Canadian Constitution were discussed and drafted right here in the library at Highclere. These and other interesting facts are revealed in the book.
